CAPTURING
LAPSES IN TIME
MERSANDS is where sea meets story. Founded by Sydney-based photographer Liam, Mersands captures the raw beauty of Australia’s coastlines—sunlight on saltwater, footprints in golden sand, waves rolling over weathered rocks.
Every image is a moment held still, telling the quiet tales of the ocean. Growing up in Sydney with French and Swiss heritage, Liam developed a deep connection to the water and the stories it holds. The name MERSANDS combines the French word for “sea” (mer) with the English “sands,” reflecting both his roots and the landscapes that inspire his lens.

Hi, I’m Liam—the photographer and founder behind MERSANDS. I’ve lived in Sydney all my life, growing up close to the water, where the coastline has always felt like both a canvas and a compass. My photography is rooted in that connection—capturing the calm, natural beauty of the sea and the soft details that often go unnoticed.
With French and Swiss heritage, I’ve always appreciated the blend of cultures and landscapes, and that mix subtly informs how I see the world through my lens. I started MERSANDS to share this perspective—slow, quiet, and intentional—with people who feel the same draw to coastal places.

FROM THE BEGINNING
THE BEGINNING
OF MERSANDS.
There’s something grounding about the ocean—its rhythm, its silence, its strength. For me, photography began as a way to hold onto that feeling. I didn’t set out to build a brand. I just wanted to capture what I saw on long walks, early mornings, and quiet afternoons near the sea.
MERSANDS grew naturally from that instinct: to collect these moments and offer them to others who feel the same pull toward the coast.I don’t use models or staged scenes—just light, water, texture, and time. Each photograph is a real moment I experienced, and I hope when you see it, you feel like you were there too. This is slow, honest photography. Created with purpose, shared with care.
